• If your operation is performed by harvesting a strip of skin, your head is wrapped with a bandage. This bandage should be kept clean and dry on your head for a day. • Lie in an upright position in your first night after the operation; you can support yourself with some pillows. Never touch the newly transplanted areas even if there is mild itching or pain. • You can wash and shampoo your hair a few days later. This ensures the removal of scurf and more importantly, the removal of scabs that prevent the growth of hair.
• One week after the operation, wash the transplanted area and hair with normal (Ph. about 5.5) shampoo. It is recommended to wash your hair by slowly pouring water and not with a shower head. You can get back into your usual routine afterwards.
• Avoid doing sports and exercises for one week after the operation. Try not to lean forward and not to blow your nose harshly.
• You can think to put ice on your head for the first week in order to prevent bleeding and swelling but never put it on the transplanted area. You can put in on your forehead or the back of your head.
• If non-dissolving stitches are used, they will be removed 14 days after the operation.
• If your scalp is still pink and swollen, try to keep away from sun and avoid the tanning booths. Wear a hat if you go outside under the sun.
If you experience serious pain, bleeding or infection, see your surgeon as soon as possible. It generally takes 3 or 4 months for the new hair to grow but this period may go up to 6 months. You should be patient enough to wait for the activation of your new hair follicles.
